Twenty-Ninth Annual Great Sports Legends Dinner

Sports legends, celebrities, philanthropic heroes and corporate leaders will again come out in force in support of Nick and Marc Buoniconti for the 29th Annual Great Sports Legends Dinner.  This celebration, held each year at the New York City’s famed Waldorf=Astoria, benefits The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis and raises funds to support the ground-breaking spinal cord injury research being done by researchers at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.

 

Our 2014 Legends are: Hakeem Olajuwon, Warren Sapp, Pedro Martinez, Joe Sakic, Bill Cowher, Mary Lou Retton and Lauryn Williams.  Bill Simon will receive the Oustanding Business Leader Award.  Grant Hill and Calvin Hill will receive the 2014 Buoniconti Fund Award.  Erik Compton will be the 2014 Inspiration Award Recipient.

Twelfth Annual Celebrity Golf Invitational at The Bear's Club with Jack Nicklaus

Golf icon Jack Nicklaus along with NFL Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti and his son Marc hosted the 12th Annual Buoniconti Fund Celebrity Golf Invitational Presented by Tudor Group at Nicklaus' home club and course, The Bear’s Club in Jupiter, Florida. 

 

For 12 years, this event has attracted the world’s top business leaders and celebrities, all working together to find a cure for spinal cord injuries.

 

To date millions have been raised by this event to fund research programs at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Destination Fashion 2012 presented by Micky and Madeleine Arison Raises $31M

$25 million gift from philanthropist Christine E. Lynn stunned the crowd as stars Enrique Iglesias, Tom Brokaw, Tommy Lee Jones, Wayne Newton, Gossip Girls' Matthew Settle and others joined forces to "stand up" to paralysis 

 

NFL Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti and his son Marc hosted an inspirational evening with more than 2,000 guests to celebrate Destination Fashion 2012. Held at Miami’s famed Bal Harbour Shops, Saks Fifth Avenue Bal Harbour presented Emilio Pucci’s Spring 2013 Fashion Show Designed by Peter Dundas, which was followed by an interactive destination party experience and private concert by Enrique Iglesias.  Tom Brokaw hosted the evening, which was chaired by Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones and International Polo Sensation Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras and raised $31 million for The Miami Project.

Tom BrokawJuly 2014 - The Buoniconti Fund will present the 29th Annual Great Sports Legends Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria on Monday, September 29, 2014. The annual event, hosted by NFL Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti and his son Marc, and chaired by Mark Dalton, raises funds to support the ground-breaking spinal cord injury research done by researchers at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis – the world’s most comprehensive spinal cord injury research center which is based at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Tom Brokaw will serve as Master of Ceremonies of the dinner, which honors philanthropic heroes and sports legends that inspire and motivate those affected by spinal cord injuries.

The celebration assembles sports legends, celebrities, philanthropic icons and corporate leaders to support the efforts of The Buoniconti Fund Board of Directors and numerous longtime benefactors.

 

The 2014 Great Sports Legends include:


•    Hakeem Olajuwon - Basketball Hall of Famer

 

•    Warren Sapp - NFL Hall of Famer

 

•    Pedro Martinez - Eight-time MLB All-Star and three-time Cy Young Award winner

 

•    Joe Sakic - NHL Hall of Famer

 

•    Bill Cowher - Super Bowl winning coach

 

•    Mary Lou Retton - Olympic Athlete

 

•    Lauryn Williams - Olympic Athlete

 

Honorees for the evening include:

 

•    Bill Simon will receive The Buoniconti Fund’s Outstanding Business Leader Award.

 

•    Grant Hill will receive the 2014 Buoniconti Fund Award for his dedication to community service.

 

•    Calvin Hill will also receive the 2014 Buoniconti Fund Award for his charitable works.

 

•    Erik Compton will receive the 2014 Inspiration Award.
