MIAMI PROJECT DOCTORS PERFORM FIRST SCHWANN CELL TRANSPLANT

Doctors at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, a Center of Excellence at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, performed the first-ever Food and Drug Administration approved Schwann cell transplantation in a patient with a new spinal cord injury. The procedure, performed at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, is a Phase 1 clinical trial designed to evaluate the safety and feasibility of transplanting the patient’s own Schwann cells.

Volunteer Chapters

 

Dedicated volunteers, many of whom are spinal cord injured (SCI), have a family member or close friend afflicted by SCI, draw upon their individual communities and resources to create greater awareness and raise funds on a grassroots level.  Chapters are a vital element to reaching The Miami Project’s goal -- a cure for paralysis.

THE 29th ANNUAL GREAT SPORTS LEGENDS DINNER

NEW YORK (September 29, 2014) – Celebrities, sports legends, corporate leaders and more joined NFL Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti, his son Marc, and Event Chair Mark Dalton as they hosted a sold out crowd in celebration of the 29th Annual Great Sports Legends Dinner presented by Carnival Corporation & PLC and the Carnival Foundation. Held at New York’s famed Waldorf Astoria on September 29, the dinner paid tribute to philanthropic heroes and sports icons that inspire and motivate those affected by spinal cord injuries, and raised important funds for research and the Human Clinical Trials Initiative.

29th Annual Great Sports Legends Dinner
